LRBS is very proud of their Association with the world famous Bolshoi Theatre and Bolshoi Ballet
Celebration! at Sadler’s Wells in October 2016 was LRBS’s first performance with Artists of the Bolshoi Ballet. The Bolshoi Ballet is one of the oldest and most prestigious dance companies in the world and its artists embody a heritage and tradition which is exceptional. LRBS was also very proud that over 550 underprivileged children from Lambeth came to the performance free of charge.
In 2017, LRBS developed this association further still, as part of a fundamental goal to offer its students the deepest insights into the technical skills and artistry required to succeed on the stage. In September four leading principals from the Bolshoi Ballet, Ekaterina Krysanova, Semyon Chudin, Maria Alexandrova and Vladislav Lantratov performed with LRBS in Romantic Revolution at the London Palladium. It was an incredible experience for LRBS students to work alongside these artists. LRBS was thrilled to have arranged for over 1000 underprivileged children form across London to watch Romantic Revolution free of charge with transport to enable attendance. The children’s response to the performance was overwhelming. Please see Romantic Revolution
Young dancers performing with vocational and graduate students at Cadogan Hall
In October 2017, LRBS performed in Romantic Revelation at Cadogan Hall. This was an exciting evening of classical, contemporary and character dance, and children from LRBS’s recreational and pre-vocational ballet classes had the wonderful opportunity of performing alongside our vocational and graduate students in a piece choreographed specially for them by Alyona Solovkova, Head of Children’s Ballet at LRBS. The children are to be commended on all their hard work in rehearsals, and their lovely performance on the night.
A Level and GCSE results 2017
Excellent results were achieved at GCSE and A Level in 2017 including for the new GCSE syllabus, with A and B grades, no lower than 7 in Maths (out of 9) and no lower than 6 in English Literature.
Outreach performance at the Oval
In July 2017, LRBS staged a very special outreach performance at the Oval Cricket Ground which brought together children from eight different local primary schools. This gave these children a much more theatrical experience than we would be able to give them in their own school halls, with a full-sized stage and professional theatrical lighting. With both classical and contemporary works performed by LRBS students and live music, this performance was met with great excitement and enthusiasm by the several hundred children, as can be seen in the video footage.
Thank you very much to everyone involved in this collaboration, and we hope to stage more of these performances soon!
LRBS students perform at Plovdiv International Ballet Festival
In June 2017, LRBS was invited to perform at the Plovdiv International Ballet Festival, and six of our very talented vocational students were chosen to take part. Marianne, Megan, Cassandra, Jemima, Andrea and Dominic all performed extremely well and were awarded a special prize for their outstanding level in classical ballet as well as being asked to perform once more in the closing ceremony of the festival. They also had a wonderful time seeing the sights of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
