On 18th September 2017 London Russian Ballet School (LRBS) continued its collaboration with the Bolshoi Theatre to bring world-class ballet and classical music performed by award winning musicians to underprivileged young people. We are proud that leading Bolshoi principles Ekaterina Krysanova, Semyon Chudin, Maria Alexandrova and Vladislav Lantratov presented an outstanding programme with our pupils, performing classic pieces alongside new dances choreographed especially for the occasion.
As well as being an incredible chance for the young audience to see world class ballet, the event was also a truly unique opportunity for LRBS’s students to perform with these principal artists. It is impossible to overstate the impact that a learning experience like this may have on the students’ training. Sharing a stage with such professionals allows them to measure themselves against the best and understand what will be required of them, both technically and artistically, to become accomplished artists. There exists no greater possible preparation for a ballet career.
As for the Bolshoi dancers themselves, they were thrilled to perform for such an atypical audience and are eager to return in the future. 1000 children from 26 schools in Lambeth and London, very many of whom could otherwise only dream of seeing live ballet in a theatre, joined the audience at the London Palladium Theatre. Romantic Revolution was the largest and most successful event of its kind to date, with 450 more children in attendance than the previous year’s equivalent performance. Nearly all attended using transportation provided by LRBS.
